Premier Jacinta Allan has shot down any hope that Victorians could be boarding a train to Melbourne Airport by 2030 despite airport bosses putting an end to the long-running dispute.
The Western Rail Plan sets out a range of objectives needed to deliver a faster, high-capacity rail network servicing our growing outer suburbs and regional cities.
“To get us out of our expensive, polluting cars, governments need to centre shared and active transport in all transport and land-use planning,” Rayner said.
Melbourne Airport will support an above-ground station for the proposed airport rail line to ensure the public transport link is in place for the millions of additional passengers that will use the gateway when the third runway is opened.
