WestJet No Longer Launching New Route Between Calgary & New York LaGuardia

In the past few weeks, Canadian and US airlines have removed flights between the countries due to simmering tensions between the two.

The aircraft was still at LaGuardia at the time of writing.

Various regional airlines operate on behalf of major US airlines.

The airline will begin the new route in June.

JetBlue said that in part, rising fees, which are now about $50 per passenger, forced the airline to suspend the route.

A former Chicago controller recalled staffing shortages occurred when they “retired 17 years ago.”

There will be up to 53 daily flights each way in 2025.

JetBlue’s new routes include new destinations in its network, such as Halifax, Canada, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
