On Tuesday December 3, Icelandair received its first ever Airbus aircraft, the Airbus A321LR. Previously seen as an interim solution in anticipation of Icelandair’s first Airbus A321XLR delivery slated for 2029, the new aircraft will serve to replace the carrier’s aging Boeing 757 fleet. Having already withdrawn its Boeing 757-300s, the phase-out of the flying pencil has well and truly begun.
