Fifth freedom flights are exciting, particularly if they involve widebody aircraft. It is where an airline operates A-B-C, with A being an airport in its homeland. It may gain traffic rights to carry passengers and freight from B-C and vice versa, legs that do not touch its country. Of course, one-stop services do not automatically mean they have fifth freedom rights.
