CVSR Trains Return Effective Today

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) announces its return to the rails today (Friday, May 3, 2024), following a voluntary two-month hiatus aimed at enhancing passenger safety and operational protocols.

During this pause, CVSR made significant investments in pivotal operational areas, including advancements in radio communications, operations management software, and safety cameras in the locomotives. Moreover, the railroad has written and implemented new operating rules and procedures specifically tailored to its unique operational scale. These initiatives collectively ensure a safe and efficient travel experience for passengers.

Joe Mazur, President and CEO of CVSR, expressed great satisfaction with the outcomes.

“CVSR stands as a testament to excellence in scenic railroading, a leader of industry innovation and dedication. Our team’s relentless pursuit of safety and service excellence defines us. I am immensely proud of our staff and volunteers, whose commitment and hard work has paved the way for our return to the rails. We are so excited to welcome passengers back on Friday and deliver unforgettable experiences on board one of the nation’s premier scenic railroads!”

Beginning at 10:00 am today, Northeast Ohio can expect to hear the iconic “whistle in the Valley” as the first departure from Akron heads north to Peninsula. Along with dinner & drink excursions, family fun loops, and entertainment adventures, seats for the ever-popular, National Park Scenic Excursion are currently available at www.cvsr.org.
