Multiple US Army helicopters were damaged during a violent storm at the Butts Army Heliport at Fort Carson in Colorado on August 1. Fortunately, there were no injuries during the storm. It’s not just war, wear and tear, and crashes that destroy aircraft; sometimes, it’s forces of nature. The damaged helicopters include Apaches, Chinooks, and Black Hawks. AH-64 Apaches are the primary attack helicopter of the US Army, the Boeing CH-47 Chinooks are the twin tandem rotor heavy lift helicopters, and the UH-60 Black Hawks are the Army’s medium-lift utility workhorse.
