Police investigate fatal Bulleen crash between a truck and van in Melbourne’s east

One person is dead and another is fighting for life in hospital after a truck and car collided in Bulleen, in Melbourne’s east.

The crash happened on the corner of Manningham and Bulleen roads about 5:40am on Monday.

The driver of the van, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A passenger in the van was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver was also taken to hospital, but police said they had non-life-threatening injuries.

Drivers have been told to avoid the area while investigations continue into the crash.(ABC News)

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are yet to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

The crash caused major traffic delays and police advised drivers to avoid the area for several hours while investigations continue.
