Queensland Rail customers can now pickup their parcels on their regular commute, with Australia Post Parcel Lockers now available at select stations.

Queensland Rail has partnered with Australia Post in a state-first initiative which will see free 24/7 Parcel Lockers trialed at five train stations in South-East Queensland.

Eagle Junction station is the first of the stations with new secure free 24/7 Parcel Lockers. TheLockers are now available at Eagle Junction and in coming months at four more locations.

Queensland Rail Acting General Manager Station Customer Service Drew Brock said the organisation is committed to continuing to improve our amenities and enhance the rail journey experience for customers.

“We know in this busy world, convenience is important and it can be frustrating to stay home waiting for a parcel to be delivered or to leave work early to try and pick it up from a post office,” he said.

“That’s why we’re excited to partner with Australia Post to offer customers an easy way to collect their parcels as part of their journey with us.

“From a commercial perspective we are always interested in exploring opportunities that have the dual benefit of enhancing customer amenities and convenience and offers a commercial return that supports the cost of our operations.

“We see a lot of potential for this initiative and are excited to grow the relationship with Australia Post in the future”.

The 12-month trial will see Australia Post’s free 24/7 Parcel Lockers installed at Eagle Junction, Varsity Lakes, Carseldine, Central and Richlands stations.

Customers will be able to collect their parcels from the secure free 24/7 Parcel Lockers at a time convenient to them within 48 hours.
