The Western Australian Government has appointed John Galvin and Fiona Hick as new members to the Infrastructure WA (IWA) Board for the period of 6 August 2024 until 31 December 2026.
John Galvin holds more than 35 years of experience in consulting, manufacturing and construction environments. Currently Galvin is the chief bidding engineering and concessions officer at Clough, an alliance leadership team member at Integrate Alliance and an alternate director at the Australian Constructors Association.
Fiona Hick has diverse executive and board experience with more than 25 years in oil, gas and mining industries. Hick is currently a non-executive director of Evolution Mining; member of the University of Western Australia’s Strategic Resources Committee; an associate fellow of the Australian Institute of Management; and fellow of the Institute of Engineers.
Nicole Lockwood has been re-appointed as chairperson and will continue in the role until 30 June 2026. Hon Jay Weatherill AO, who has served as a member on the Board since 2023, has been appointed as deputy chairperson for a term to expire on 31 December 2027.
Rebecca Tomkinson has also been re-appointed for a further term as a member of the Board until 30 June 2026.
Premier Roger Cook and IWA’s chairperson Nicole Lockwood paid tribute to the two outgoing members, Mr Terry Agnew and Ms Kerryl Bradshaw, who were both appointed to the inaugural Board back in 2019.
“I thank outgoing members Mr Agnew and Ms Bradshaw for their dedication and the invaluable guidance as inaugural members of the Infrastructure WA Board,” Cook said.
“Mr Galvin and Ms Hick bring with them an extensive and diverse range of experiences that will complement the Board’s skillset, and I am pleased to welcome them.
“I’d like to congratulate Nicole Lockwood, Hon Jay Weatherill AO, and Rebecca Tomkinson on their respective appointments.”
Infrastructure WA provides an advisory and assistance role to the State Government on medium to long term infrastructure related matters. It provides strategic policy direction and oversight of major infrastructure proposals and investments to support better outcomes for the WA economy and community.
Infrastructure WA Chairperson Nicole Lockwood said that on behalf of the IWA Board and team, she would like to extend its gratitude to Terry and Kerryl for the past five years.
“Their roles through the agency’s formative years, the delivery of the inaugural State Infrastructure Strategy and as IWA expanded into all its legislative functions have been invaluable,” she said.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome John Galvin and Fiona Hick to the Board. I also offer my congratulations to Jay and Rebecca on their well-deserved re-appointments.
“I am appreciative of the Premier’s confidence in re-appointing me as Chairperson. I look forward to continuing to drive progress at IWA, particularly as our focus shifts to the delivery of the next State Infrastructure Strategy.”
The agency is overseen by an independent board comprising members with diverse expertise from public and private sectors. More information about IWA and its Board is available at infrastructure.wa.gov.au.
