Police are preparing to pull officers from around the state to respond to a protest planned for next month, where 25,000 people are expected to take part in an anti-war demonstration.
The blockade is expected to take place outside the military fair Land Forces Exposition at the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, which runs from September 11-13.
Police have said it is set to be their largest operation since the three-day protests against the World Economic Forum in 2000, which turned violent.
While there is no evidence of specific threat, hundreds of regional police will travel to Melbourne for the event to help provide an “agile response to any incidents” that arise.
