Airport rail facing $2bn budget blowout

The state government says ongoing delays on the Melbourne Airport Rail Link mean “cost escalations are inevitable” as new analysis shows how much the project could end up costing.

How does it cost $2b to put a project on hold?

That is one very very large holding cost and I would question that amount and the project has been placed on hold because the state of out of funds and with so many other projects blowing out such as the North East Link is the government really in control of the state finances?

In reality we are fleeced another $2b into union based labour and at the same time we now have an inferior solution with a railway station not in the terminal but 700M from the terminal.

It just gets better and better.
