THE entire 40km inter-city railway from Zhuzai’s Gongbei district to Macau International Airport has opened, after Phase 1 of project was completed in August 2020.
Phase 2, totalling 17.1km between Hengqin and the airport, also includes the Jinhai Bridge, a combined road and rail structure that collapsed, with fatal consequences, during construction in 2021.
The fastest trains are scheduled to take 36 minutes to travel the entire length of the route, with slower trains stopping at the other eight stations on the line taking 54 minutes.
An interchange between Zhuzai Gongbei station and Macau’s Light Rapid Transit network is planned.
