V/Line removing capacity on Albury passenger services

The past week has seen an UP Melbourne from Albury service and an evening down Albury service from Melbourne replaced by buses. Since the introduction of the Velocity sets and the removal of the N set longer distance rolling stock seating capacity has been removed on the route leading to overcrowding of services.

V/Line are now only running 3 car sets on some services between Albury and Melbourne and the snack bar (well you could call it that but it is worse) has not always operated.

V/Line’s track record on longer distance services and their plan to drive service on trains to nothing is well in swing.

Bairnsdale passengers are now even worse off with no onboard catering or food/drink for 4 hours (a longer journey than Albury) a major step backwards for service on the Gippsland line.

Warrnambool line passengers are now facing the same pathetic outcome as the Bairnsdale Line and Albury passengers are now facing buses as their rail service is replaced.

  1. I don’t say this lightly if proven the current executives in management can’t operate and manage train service than sadly they need to be removed from their roles!

Nor even proud enough to ride their own rail system speaks volumes about their performance when it seems they prefer WHF setting or tax funded car and plane travel in preference to their own rail system!

  2. V/line is an absolute joke. Countless years of merry go round management and inept HR will continue to drive a once proud service into the ground. Multiple layers of management with no rail experience are on huge salaries and bonuses, whilst services, track condition and driver training is suffering.
    V/line is in a state of D/cline.

    1. They have run the network into the ground and in doj NTG so they have focused on pushing freight off the network deliberately. They remove points and access to customer sidings as a mandatory work process.
