Track closures for Cross River Rail

Crucial Cross River Rail works will occur during the September school holidays with track closures and travel changes expected.

From Saturday 14 September to Sunday 29 September, various parts of the rail network will be impacted at different times to allow for critical works on the transformational project.

Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines will be impacted for the full duration, while all northern lines except for Ferny Grove will be affected from Saturday 21 September to Sunday 29 September.

All services will return to a regular timetable from first service on Monday 30 September.

Cross River Rail Delivery Authority Chief Executive Officer Graeme Newton said the works require extensive access to the rail corridor and could not be completed safely or efficiently with trains on the tracks.

“Some of the work that will be completed includes the connection of new Cross River Rail track to the existing rail line, station upgrades at Dutton Park and Yeerongpilly, works for the installation of the world-class ETCS signalling system at Fairfield, drainage and signalling works, and ground renewal works between Bowen Hills and Albion,” Newton said.

“While the works are deliberately scheduled for the quieter school holiday period, we understand these closures may impact some customers.

“We thank customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to deliver this city-shaping project.”
