ITA Airways will serve Rome Fiumicino to San Francisco weekly this winter, the carrier’s only North American route with that frequency. The long, 5,444 nautical mile (10,081 km) airport pair is relatively new. United Airlines launched flights in May 2023, followed by Italy’s flag carrier two months later. While United runs summer seasonally, Alitalia operates year-roundonly infrequently and less than last winter.
