Metro Tunnel faces ANOTHER massive cost blowout

Jacqui Felgate has slammed the “disrespectful” state government as the Metro Tunnel faces another massive cost blowout.

Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Danny Pearson, announced a cost blowout of $837 million today, with the project now expected to cost $15 billion, $4 billion more than the original cost.

“How can the government get it so wrong all the time?” Felgate said.

“Just another classic taking out the trash move and how disrespectful to Victorian taxpayers.”

Channel Seven reporter Sharnelle Vella then shed light on Danny Pearson’s press conference, stating fellow reporters were treated to a “very long spiel” about how great the Metro Tunnel is going to be.

  1. Hey Jacqui, go ask NSW about their metro then! UK about Elizabeth Line. California about HSR. Your partisan hack is showing. Think they need to teach more accounting and economics for Gen Xers…

  2. Price tag if $15b is way too high for that project. They are 2x 9 km tunnels and 4 stations. $750m a kilometre makes no sense at all clearly the contract was rigged in favour of the constructor and the people involved.

Sydney metro west is $25b for 2 x 24 km tunnels with a high number of stations

    Does not add up.

    1. You are forgetting the CFMEU tax for the project. It would appear the project has been extended several times to keep CFMEU people employed it should not take 5 years to build a railway station.
