The man was walking by the light rail when he was set upon, with the alleged offender fleeing the scene as police appeal for information.
A man has been stabbed in the back while walking outside a light rail in Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Darling Road in Haymarket about 4.20pm on Sunday after reports of an assault.
Police were told a 22-year-old man was walking near the Chinatown light rail stop when he was stabbed in the back.
A man allegedly fled the scene and ran towards Darling Drive.

Paramedics treated the 22-year-old at the scene.
He was then taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation launched into the incident.

He is described as about 170cm tall with a medium build. Picture: NSW Police.
The man is described as being about 40 or 50-years-old of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or caucasian appearance.
