Traffic Lights destroyed by Road Train in Melbourne Suburban Street

We see this time and time again. Vicroads allowing these dangerous monster and unnecessary heavy vehicles onto inner Melbourne suburban roads and streets. Melbourne is the only city in Australia allowing these massive killer trucks to roam free in our city.

Footage of the serious incident at the cnr of Somerville & Willy Rds yesterday.

This is the exact situation that resulted in 5 people seriously injured at Southbank in 2021.

The company called KTI have the slogan of “Service with Integrity” really? The principals of this “Company with Integrity” are Brett Harland (national linehaul manager), Jono Buck (Chief operations manager). An Adelaide based company clearly in need of serious driver training initiatives.

This is not the first time we have seen major infrastructure damage by massive trucks who don’t care about the damage they inflict on people and property.

Vicroads continue to license these drivers and also provide permits for these killer trucks designed for anywhere but a major city like Melbourne. it is simply a scheme by trucking company’s to make more and more and the average resident is discarded by Vicroads.

Vicroads are often missing in action when incidents are reported as is the local member for Footscray Katie Hall MP who does not seem to think there is a problem with massive trucks in inner Melbourne suburban streets claiming recently the problem will disappear very soon with a block of land near the Port of Melbourne.

One thing we all know is the local member does not like to be questioned or fact checked on her statements as other authors here have experienced.

Very lucky there were no pedestrians there yesterday.

MTAG continue to be a great job is calling these issues out and questioning why we have such large vehicles on our small streets.

  1. KTI- Service with integrity – did the truck even end up stopping? Or keep on driving? Brett Harland (national linehaul manager), Jono Buck (Chief operations manager), maybe even Steve Buck (CEO)- I guess you could say the BUCK stops with him – might have had a few phone calls?
