Didn’t really pay much attention at the time, however the Victorian Socialists Political Party have begun to grab some serious numbers in a couple of areas in the west and north.
This keeps up and they’ll overtake the Greens soon.
The @vic_socialists did well in working class areas where PT service is pretty patchy. @VictorianGreens were weak on PT in 2022 especially buses. Their bus electrification plan lacked lines on maps and thus lacked direct and sellable benefits for people. https://x.com/MelbOnTransit
Labor have failed to invest enough in Melbourne’s west being years behind in public transport infrastructure but a lot has already been achieved, a lot more than would have been completed under a Coalition Government.
Starting to see Vic Socialists enter suburbs that are not very Vic Socialist friendly. They have council candidates in areas like Kew and Camberwell, for example. I think showing you’re happy to show up for left voters – especially where Labor won’t bother – is important. https://x.com/TheSaltminer
But how will they actually faire?
