Heatherton resident beats up SRL works engages in misinformation

Residents of a southeast Melbourne suburb are up in arms after being told of significant disruption for a major government project just days before works begin.

What are the significant works being undertaken? Looks like a beat up to me.

Flyers were dropped in letter boxes of several Heatherton residents last Friday, advising them of severe disruption in the areas from late October until late December as a result of Suburban Rail Loop works.

Bronwyn, who lives in the area, told Jacqui Felgate it was “disgraceful” the government is pushing ahead with little communication, but have pledged to stop works during November’s Australian Open golf tournament at nearby Kingston Heath.

Well that would be MoveThe Train Yard on Twitter. Good to see the Golf is fine.

“The weekend was pretty unsettled with our family of five not knowing whether our house will be livable throughout that period,” she told Jacqui Felgate.

Gutter journalism one of the reasons Jacqui Felgate does not have a loyal audience.

“We now have potentially nine days to work out what’s happening, it’s very unsettling for the whole family.”

3AW Drive has also been sent vision of workers in hazmat suits inspecting soil in the area around where Suburban Rail Loop works are taking place (below).

Pleasing to see there will be the removal of materials from the area to make way for the train yard. Imagine children using that old tip area and being exposed to hazards of materials. Good work to identify those materials and remove them.

Hazmat Suits mean there is hazards at the playground. Good to get rid of them now in preparation for the new rail yard

  1. Article suggests the same person is behind the co stent snipping of the project. If the rail yard was moved where would it go?

Heatherton is a semi industrial area with the land being reused was landfill. Why haven’t these detractors spoken up about the asbestos being around the land before?

Remove the asbestos and clean up the land and then create the rail yard and the associated jobs and if required also create a railway station if that is what they want.

    1. There is a person on twitter and Facebook running a one man band on SRL. Listen to the interview. Felgate takes a negative view before the interview begins and no facts are actually revealed. They admit they do not know what the works are but state they are substantial. ??????

They don’t want the asbestos removed now.

They are being offered the opportunity to relocate for 6 weeks if they wish. BIGBUILD is across Melbourne and many people are dealign with works of all types.

  2. Felgate has become a shock jock. Very opinionated and in my view lacks credibility. Poor journalism and lacking facts.

Bronwyn is the move the train yard?

You don’t have to move it is a short term issue for a long term gain for Melbourne.

    Shock jock stuff.

New level crossing? No level crossing.

They are closing Kingston road which will
Minimise the disruptions. Residents everywhere have some pain with big projects. These residents are no exception.

    1. Robert….What is a “Shock Jock”?

It seems when people comes up all sort excuses why something can’t be done it seems they don’t want it at all!

Time to ask this question are they being influenced via incentives from the certain power lobbyist group for the project not to go ahead?

      1. Move The Train Yard is loosing people now it is complaint after complaint. SRL will go ahead now and it should.

        1. I don’t understand….why going nuts and find excuse after excuse? not only that I notice I got very personal and nasty against people picking his debate to peices!
