Most of the US Army’s helicopters date from the 1960s (the CH-47 Chinook first flew in 1961), and finally, the Army’s new Bell V-280 Valor tiltrotor aircraft is coming to fruition. Like the V-22 Osprey, the Bell V-280 Valor is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the best of helicopters and fixed-wing propeller-driven aircraft. Here is how the 101st Airborne Division is planning for the Valor to transform the Army’s rapid assault operations.
