Metro Trains lunacy continues with lack of services on game day

The stupid and down right ludacrious management of the worst run train network in Australia continues with long delays and lack of trains on important game days for the A-League and NRL. As recently as last Saturday evening 40,000 spectators were delayed getting home due to a lack of additional rail services to address the crowd backlog.

The Hurstbridge Line had 20 minute services likewise the Mernda Line a key line in the city and services a major growth area of Melbourne.

We left @AAMIPark as soon as the match finished and there hasn’t been a single train going outbound from Jolimont. Absolutely disgraceful.

As a result there were crush scenes at Jolimont Railway Station with those attending the game waiting over an hour for trains to clear the backlog. Hardly international city standards.

Glad to see the same situation for my other team. Storm games are the same, upwards of forty minutes if you miss the train that’s ten minutes after end of the game. Obviously except for the AFL but it shits me everytime I go to storm or victory

When the AFL starts up again next season those travelling to Geelong for games at Kadina Park could face the same issues or worse when you consider the changes to tracks between Geelong and Waurn Ponds has removed sidings that held trains ready to depart for services to Melbourne.

Just when you thought V/Line had decided to produce upgrades that worked, don’t be fooled, a $billion dollars in Victoria does not buy you double track in this section, only partial double track but there would have been plenty of union lunches.
