The Pratt & Whitney PW1000G, a line of ultra-efficient high-bypass turbofan engines, is the first commercially viable geared turbofan (GTF) engine to enter the mainstream market for jet airliners, and the engines offer extensive benefits for operators. Built by US-based manufacturer Pratt & Whitney, which is itself a subsidiary of the RTX Corporation (formerly known as Raytheon Technologies), the engine was groundbreaking when it first hit the market.
