While the media may have at times overplayed the developmental and production woes of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, it has matured into a very successful fighter jet. It seems that Lockheed Martin is working through the Technology Refresh 3 update troubles that had led to the DoD refusing delivery and around 100 jets being stored. This will likely mean the United States will produce around 200 fighter jets of all types in 2024 (including for export).
