The “Xi’an – Middle Corridor – Europe” westbound train has been in operation since August 13, 2024 and is now a regular option for transportation. In addition, Beijing Trans Eurasia plans to officially launch the “Europe – Middle Corridor – Xi’an” eastbound service in November 2024
After departing from Xi’an, the route enters Kazakhstan via the Altynkol Border, and transits to container ships at the Aktau Port to get across the Caspian Sea and arrive at the Port of Baku, Azerbaijan. Then it returns to the railway mode, passing directly through Georgia to the Poti Port. The whole journey from Xi’an to the Poti Port takes about 15 to 16 days.
After arriving at the Poti Port, Beijing Trans Eurasia uses its own container ship to cross the Black Sea from the Poti Port to the Port of Burgas in Bulgaria. This segment takes only two days as public maritime services are replaced by dedicated container ships.
In the final phase, Beijing Trans Eurasia continues to use its own locomotives and wagons for distribution and transportation from the Port of Burgas to a lot of European cities, including Belgrade, Budapest, Ceska Trebova, Mannheim, Duisburg, Hamburg and Malaszewicz, taking 5 to 8 days depending on the destination.
According to the data as of October 2024, the average total transport time from Xi’an to Mannheim, Germany has been reduced to around 29 to 30 days, satisfying customers’ demand for speed and reliability.
Eastbound service to be launched soon
The launch of the eastbound service should see a train departing every two weeks and an estimated total transport time of 28 to 30 days. It is worth noting that this route bypasses the Russian region and effectively avoids the restrictions imposed by the EU sanctions against Russia. This enables a simpler process for documents preparation and makes the services available to a wider range of goods, offering new convenience and more options to customers.
The next departure dates for the westbound train are 3 November, 10 November, 17 November and 24 November. For eastbound convoys, the departure dates are 9 November, 23 November and 7 December.
