After nearly four decades of having two major airlines duking it out to attain dominance in the Korean air market, the South Korean Government decided in 2020 that it would be pursuing the merger of long-time national airline Korean Air and legacy carrier Asiana Airlines. These two carriers have grown to become the country’s two largest, and today serve destinations across the globe with large intercontinental aircraft, with both operating major hubs at Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN).
