We’re giving Warrnambool Line passengers more certainty around seating over the summer holiday period by introducing a reservation-only seating trial.
Whether you’re visiting family or friends, travelling for a major event or holidaying in beautiful south-west Victoria, this trial will provide greater confidence when planning your travel.
The trial begins tomorrow, so passengers can plan ahead for the holiday period and make a reservation.
Under the trial, if all seats are booked on a service, passengers would then have the option of purchasing an unreserved ticket, which alerts them that they may have to stand for all or part of their journey.
With cheaper fares, extra services, more reliable trains and more certainty about seating, we’re supporting Warrnambool Line passengers and their travel needs.
We encourage Warrnambool Line passengers to plan ahead and reserve a seat by booking online at vline.com.au, at a staffed V/Line or premium Metro station, by calling 1800 800 007 or by visiting a retail ticket agent.
This is simply an acknowledgement of how broken the Warrnambool line has become and how v/Line are seeking to cover up their poor decisions around the deployment of Vlocity trains on the line despite over 800 signatures on a petition to not. The Warrnambool Council is concerned about the changes as are other politicians in the ALP. They were all for the change and when they worked out how substandard the service would become they quickly reversed their support.
The only person who provided support for the change other than V/Line who clearly do not survey their customers was the local member for Warrnambool.
V/Line are short on substance and large in window dressing.

for the first time I had consider reserving a ticket for my next few trips to Warrnambool as I am not fond the fact I might have stand or sit on the floor for part of my journey…..
For Myki holders and those who travel beyond Myki tap on zones it can be problematic…..as currently the website doesn’t allow booking for a different dates on the return trip the last two services….I had get customer service to complete the rest of my booking on the phone!
