Train operator Northern has enabled a group of 20 young people to enjoy a fun-filled day trip to Leeds City Museum while learning key rail safety tips.
Students from Temple Moor High School, a specialist inclusive learning centre that supports pupils who have a wide range of special educational needs, were taught about rail safety by the TrainEd team at Community Rail Lancashire and Northern.
The students learned key safety rules about trespassing, boarding the train, and having their tickets checked. They then had the opportunity to put these new skills into practice as they travelled from Cross Gates to Leeds on a Northern service to visit Leeds Museum.
Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern said: “We are happy to be able to support Community Rail Lancashire, who do a huge amount of work working with young people – and some of them were able to experience travelling by train for the very first time.
“At Northern, we are proud to be a part of the communities we serve and aim to make a positive impact for the North.”
The train operator supplied free travel for the group and the children enjoyed a memorable day out together.
