The French government announced the cancellation of 10 billion euros that were supposed to be invested throughout the country in 2024. The infrastructure and transport sectors will see their budget decrease by over 341 million euros.
This sum, according to French media outlet Maire Info, equals 7 per cent of the total budget previously allocated for the infrastructure and transport sectors. According to La Transalpine Turin-Lyon, the entity overseeing the Turin-Lyon project, these cuts are a consequence of the revised expected growth in France, which went from 1,4 per cent to 1 per cent.
The announced cuts will mostly affect the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, which includes the infrastructure and transport sectors. Its budget went from 10 to eight billion euros, making it, by far, the most impacted one by this initiative. The Ministries involved will now have a few days to integrate this decision. When this happens, it will be possible to have a clearer picture of how the cuts will be implemented.
