Qatar Airways to make Canberra comeback

The sold-out maiden flight, VA1681, touched down at Ayers Rock Airport at around 4pm local time on Thursday afternoon on board the 737-800 VH-YIA. Virgin is also commencing Brisbane–Uluru flights this week, with the first to take off on Friday.

Starting in May 2025 for the peak season, the low-cost carrier will add a fifth weekly flight on Saturdays from Sydney to the Pacific destination, on a route served by its A321neo LR (NEO) fleet.

New BITRE figures released by the Department of Transport also revealed, industry-wide, just 72.5 per cent of flights departed on time in July.
