In 2014 at the Farnborough Airshow, European aerospace manufacturer Airbus announced its response to the Boeing 787, the groundbreaking hyperefficient long-range wide-range widebody aircraft set to be introduced by the US manufacturer in the back half of the 2010s. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, as the manufacturer marketed the aircraft, was designed to be a plane of the future, one which would offer unheard-of range while also providing impressive efficiency, all while lowering capacity in comparison to larger widebody jets.
