Devastating news for the Hastings community with the railway station burning down last evening.
Sadly, it looks like the station will be demolished.
What replaces it will remain to be seen.
Hastings railway station is a commuter railway station on the Stony Point line, part of the Melbourne railway network. It serves the town of Hastings in Victoria, Australia.
UPDATED
Trains are suspended on the line with the PTV expected to demolish the station by tomorrow close of business.
Why don’t we push for extension of frankston line to reach Mornington as well as upgrades to Stony point for full electrification. Pretty sure Stony Point is a key link to Phillip island, the line has been neglected for years with stupid crazy figures for unnecessary duplication.
I knew there’d be a way of weaving a serve to the state government in this. Why not accuse the premier of being the arsonist?
The premier has burned down the state of Victoria.
The line has been poorly developed and has been a diesel service for years. It is clear to me at least you are ex government or current government. If you worked in transport hang your head in shame over the mess it is now.
It cannot be argued the stony point line should have been wired years ago and does not need to be a double track system.
DTP plans to demolish this station later today to get the Stony Point Line reopened soon.
