A Closer Look At The US Air Force Academy’s TG-16A Gliders

The TG-16A (United States Air Force designation of the DG Flugzeugbau DG-1000) is a two-seater glider designed and developed by DG Flugzeugbau in the late 1990s. The type first flew in July 2000 in Germany. The company introduced four models, each featuring 18—to 20-meter wings. The original model features an 18-meter (59 ft) long wingspan. The USAF T-16As replaced the aging LET TG-10 and are used to train cadets in soaring at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA).
