ScotRail is advising passengers to plan their journeys and expect some services to be busier than normal as it prepares for a full weekend of sporting action.
The Emirates Arena in Glasgow will host the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships from Friday 1 March to Sunday 3 March.
To help customers get to and from the venue, ScotRail has added extra stops at Dalmarnock station, the closest to the venue, throughout the event.
Customers are being urged to plan their journeys in advance and purchase tickets through the ScotRail app as part of the mTickets system. This means people can secure their tickets from the comfort of their home, or on the way to the station, and it will instantly become available on their mobile device.
ScotRail will have extra staff on hand to assist customers, and the train operator is reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Scotland this weekend, and will do everything we can to support their travel to the event.
“With Dalmarnock station being the closest to the Emirates Arena, we have additional stops, to make travel as convenient as possible for everyone going along.
“To make your travel experience as smooth as possible, I’d recommend purchasing train tickets before boarding. The mTicket system, available on the ScotRail app, offers a convenient way to secure your tickets and download them straight to your mobile phone, avoiding any unnecessary queues on the day.”
