A Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-900 was grounded for three days after experiencing multiple systems failures (including the autopilot and CPDLC systems). The incident happened on flight VS-118 en route from Miami to London Heathrow Airport. Autopilots have made the pilot’s job of flying the aircraft much easier and have evolved significantly over the years. Virgin Atlantic is a British airline and has recently celebrated its 40th year of operations (it is notable for being one of the few airlines that only operate widebody aircraft).
