With voter collapse for the Federal ALP now happening in Victoria I would expect there to be a major funding push by Chalmers and Albanese to fund the Suburban Rail Loop.
Victoria has received very little funding for major projects with the exception of the useless and congestion causing North East Link a CMFEU Boondoggle.
The previous Federal Coalition Government provided funding to Victoria for a fast train to Geelong, the funds were taken back when the state failed to progress the project sadly this would have been a very positive step in the right direction for Geelong.
Not only have we seen the loss of funding and no project delivery on Geelong Fast Rail, we have seen the convenient downgrading of the much needed rail line to Armstrong Creek. This government cannot manage rail projects to save themselves.
Now we will see the Federal Labor Government fund the SRL a project needed and supported by the public over and above the North East Link and the Transurban lead West gate Tunnel. The Melbourne Airport Link still stays above those projects on the list but has been stopped by the Victorian ALP.
The Federal ALP is now in election mode and will certainly provide money to Victoria as it should have already.
Stop whinging…this has become nausea inducing!
Good comments on this article we need to get serious about investment in metro services. Albo should find intact all interstate rail services should be federal delivered.

To say the comments whinging is saying I cannot accept an opinion I don’t subscribe to. The rail network at V/Line is far from perfect. Poorly run and poor choice of rolling stock. People deserve to have an opinion on the performance of Government.
Would be a good move by the Feds to fund the suburban rail project, they have not provided a lot of funding for rail and Melbourne has become the largest city in Australia. Would. help boost him in Victoria.
The question is this the right project to be funding?
Think so Clayton needs a rail line and we need a cross suburbs not just into the city a hub and spoke.
