In early-December, I was invited by Icelandair to Reykjavík to welcome the company’s brand-new Airbus Airbus A321LR. This was the airline’s first Airbus aircraft ever, marking a significant transition away from its exclusively-Boeing fleet. The new Airbuses are set to replace the airline’s Boeing 757 fleet, making my return journey to London even more relevant.

On the first day of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) hearings related to the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 door plug blowout, Boeings representatives said that the company would redesign the door plug to prevent another occurrence from ever taking place.Elizabeth Lund, the senior vice president of Quality of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said during the hearing that her company was designing changes to the mid-exit door plug, changes which the plane maker aimed to introduce soon.
