Trains now stopping at Perth Stadium precinct seven days a week

Food, fun, exhilaration, exercise, nature, and popular tourist attractions – everything the Perth Stadium precinct has to offer is more accessible than ever with trains stopping at Stadium Station seven days a week from Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

Train access to Stadium Station has been limited to event days, weekends, and public holidays since the stadium opened in early 2018. Now, anyone wanting to visit the precinct can do so affordably and easily every day of the week, with the station just a short, five-minute train journey from the CBD.

With fares capped at two zones, people can travel to Stadium Station from anywhere in the wider metropolitan area for no more than $5.10 per ticket, and free for SmartRider holders every Sunday.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti explained the reasoning for the line running seven days a week.

“The area around the stadium is a beautiful precinct that has plenty to offer outside of event days, from a picturesque waterside walk or cycle to the Matagarup Zip+Climb, sensory playground, parklands, barbeque and picnic facilities, and easy access to local businesses,” she said.

“Limiting public transport access to weekends and public holidays kept this world class area inaccessible for many. Opening up Perth Stadium Station on weekdays will give both locals and tourists alike more opportunity to explore and enjoy the precinct, all for no more than $5.10 a ticket.

“The April 2 start date coincides with the first week of school holidays, and we hope many Western Australians will take advantage of the five-minute train journey from the city, and enjoy everything this area has to offer.”

To facilitate work on several projects, Armadale Line trains are currently only running between Perth Station and Victoria Park Station. More information on replacement bus services can be found on the Transperth website.

The new daily services to Stadium Station will continue after the Armadale Line reopens.
