The US Space Force was split off from the United States Air Force in December 2019, meaning that the United States’ youngest uniformed service branch is now five years old. The Space Force has achieved many milestones in this first half-decade of existence and is ever-growing to adapt to the new space domain of warfare. The world has entered a new age of Great Power Competition, and both the Air Force and Space Force are restructuring to remain the best they can be in the new environment. For a while, the US Space Force was the only independent space force in the world until the Chinese established the People’s Liberation Army Aerospace Force in April 2024.
