The Boeing 747 became the Queen of the Skies and changed commercial passenger aviation. There are many interesting things to know about the original Boeing 747-100 Jumbo. Today it is remembered as a classic, but in the 1960s, the world saw it as futuristic. The jet first came into service in 1970, but it was developed in the 1960s, and Boeing created mock-ups advertising the massive new aircraft around 1967 and 1968. The mock-ups show how Boeing thought the new 747-100 could be configured. Although in practice, many of the conceptual ideas in the mock-ups were never adopted by the airlines and the massive jet took a different pathway.
