PRESS RELEASE
B-29 Doc has been added to the warbird lineup for the 2024 Heroes in Flight Air Show hosted by Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina, April 20-21. B-29 Doc is one of 1,644 B-29 Superfortress aircraft built by the Boeing Company in Wichita during World War II and one of only two B-29 bombers still airworthy and flying today.
“Air shows provide unique opportunities for people to get up close and personal with historic and present-day aircraft,” said Mark Novak, B-29 Doc chief pilot and retired United States Air Force B-1 Lancer and KC-135 pilot. “When we can showcase B-29 Doc and let people climb inside history and get a hands-on look at what was state-of-the-art technology during World War II, and then share the stories of the Greatest Generation at the same time, we ensure the preservation of our nation’s aviation heritage for generations to come.”
Doc will be on static display during the show and attendees will have access to ground and cockpit tours. Additional tour stops in South Carolina, including B-29 Doc Flight Experience opportunities will be announced at a later date.
“Our mission is to honor, educate, and connect,” Novak continued. “Through that mission, we hope that with B-29 Doc we will inspire the next generation of aviators, aircraft engineers, or space explorers.”
