According to the Australian Government, the country has seven airports designated as major international airports – Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney (with many more secondary and limited international airports). Of these, five serve the five largest cities of Australia, while two (Cairns and Darwin) are located in smaller, more isolated areas.
Adelaide Airport should be connected to the CBD by a light, heavy or underground rail link, an independent infrastructure review has been told – but the state government has all but ruled out the idea.
Within a few days, Rex added a second service to Perth, and from next month, it will fly to West Australia from both Melbourne and Adelaide.
