A push for stronger connectivity between New Zealand and South America is starting to bubble up, with the Latin America Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence (also known as CAPE) looking to increase engagement between the South American continent and New Zealand. Currently, the only connection between the two regions is a daily direct service with LATAM between Auckland (AKL) and Santiago (SCL)—this acts as a stopover point for its SCL-AKL-SYD service, with fifth freedom rights trans-Tasman.
