The Gulfstream III, a business jet developed by Gulfstream Aerospace, is an improved variant of the earlier Gulfstream II, a model that was built when Gulfstream was still a business unit of Grumman. An aircraft designed and built in Savannah, Georgia incorporated aerodynamic improvements, including longer wings with winglets, an advanced fuselage, and an extended radar dome, all complemented by next-generation avionics systems. The aircraft was certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on September 22nd, 1980, and a total of 202 aircraft were produced before production was concluded in 1986.
