There will be several changes to take place with the temporary closure of the Maho-Anuradhapura section for 6 months, starting January 7, 2024. This essential modernization effort aims to create a more reliable and advanced railway system, ensuring a smoother travel experience for commuters in the long run.
Several direct trains from Colombo to KKS (Kankesanthurai) and Talaimannar will be canceled for the duration of the project.
These four train services will be canceled:
- Train No. 4021/4022 – KKS Intercity Express
- Train No. 4017/4018 – Uttara Devi Intercity Express
- Train No. 5003/5004 – Talaimannar Express
- Train No. 4089/4090 – KKS Night Mail
