Examining booking data available on subscription via OAG shows that the US had more than 98 million roundtrip long-haul passengers in 2023. If spread unfairly over the year, that equates to about 268,000 people traveling daily. Nearly six in ten passengers – 158,000 daily – had to connect to another flight, hence the enormous role of the hub-and-spoke carriers.
