Adequate fleet management strategy is an essential element of the recipe for any airline’s success. Consequently, many of the most noteworthy, high-profile airline failures of the past few decades have been attributable, at least in part, to poor fleet management strategies. Airlines often operate a wide variety of jets, each of which serves its own unique purpose and can be used to target specific customer demographics. However, inadequate management of a fleet can lead to empty aircraft and ultimately heavy financial losses.
