Faulty V-22 Osprey Proprotor Gearbox To Get Fix By End Of Year

An April 11 exclusive to National Defense magazine shares the good news that the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey family of tilt-rotors will be receiving new gearboxes of the 123 version starting in December 2025 and going deep into 2026. The gearbox replacement will resolve most of the ongoing issues with the V-22 Osprey such as hard clutch engagements (HCEs) and difficulties transferring jet turbine power to proprotors that tilt up for vertical flight and transition horizontally for faster horizontal flight, but one whistleblower-widow retains public concerns.
