The Port of Szczecin – Świnoujście will be one transshipment hub richer. It signed an agreement for the construction of the hub, which should boost its capacity to move containers from ships to trains and the other way around.
The transshipment hub plan includes a storage yard of nearly 400 metres in length and 27 metres in width. An existing siding track will undergo further development. The location of the future hub is Grabowski island in Szczecin. More specifically, transshipment will take place at the “Finnish” and “Norwegian” quays on the island.
“The investment is aimed at using the transshipment potential of the newly built tracks on the Ostrów Grabowski siding”, the port writes on LinkedIn. “The designed infrastructure will be used to handle containers from rolling stock to ships and vice versa.”
