Modern Level Crossings To Be Installed On The Senegalese Railway Network

Chemins de Fer du Senegal (CFS) – Senegal’s Railways recently announced that they have signed a donation agreement with Future Resources SA, a Belgian company specialising in intelligent railway management systems. The agreement involves a donation valued at approximately 1 million euros for the installation of four modern level crossings within the Senegalese railway network. This is part of a pilot project backed by the Belgian government, aiming to enhance railway safety in Senegal. Two level crossings have been identified for installation in the city of Thiès. The level crossings will utilise advanced technology, including satellite antennas and onboard computers, to detect human presence on tracks, which will go a long way in improving safety. The financial support comprises 700,000 euros from the Belgian Federal State and 243,000 euros from the Wallonia government.
